Public Housing
The agency owns
and operates 712 public housing units.
The WPBHA was established to provide
safe, decent and affordable housing
to individuals and families with limited
financial resources. The WPBHA owns
and operates the Conventional Housing
Program and owns 712 public
housing units under this program.
The purpose of
the public program is to provide decent
and affordable housing to low-income
families at reduced rents. The developments
are owned, maintained and managed
by the Authority. The developments/units
are acquired, developed and modernized
under HUD’s development and comprehensive
grant programs. Funding of the program
operations and development is provided
by federal annual contributions and
operating subsidies and tenant rentals
(determined as a percentage of family
income, adjusted for family composition).
